Preparation Time

  • Cook Time: 15 minutes
  • Total Time: 20 minutes

Ingredients

Egg Mixture

  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • ¼ cup heavy cream (or substitute with whole milk)
  • 5 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 tablespoons hot melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ⅛ teaspoon salt

Additional Ingredients

  • 4 cups cubed white bread (¾-inch cubes; see notes for bread options)
  • ⅓ cup golden raisins

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Custard:
    • In a mixing bowl, whisk the eggs until combined. Add sugar, milk, cream, cinnamon, vanilla, and whisk until the sugar is dissolved.
    • Stir in the hot melted butter to prevent clumping.
  2. Assemble the Pudding:
    • Grease a 6-inch round cake pan with non-stick cooking spray.
    • Layer half of the bread cubes in the pan and sprinkle with half of the raisins.
    • Pour half of the egg mixture evenly over the bread. Repeat with the remaining bread, raisins, and custard.
    • Use the back of a spoon to gently press the bread into the liquid, ensuring even soaking.
  3. Cook in the Air Fryer:
    • Preheat your air fryer to 350°F (175°C).
    • Place the cake pan in the air fryer basket and bake for 11-13 minutes or until the top is golden brown and a knife inserted into the center comes out clean.
  4. Serve:
    • Allow the bread pudding to rest for a few minutes. Dust with powdered sugar and serve warm, topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Notes

  • Bread Choices: Use soft Italian or French bread, brioche, or challah for best results.
  • Soft Bread Tips: If using soft sandwich bread, burger buns, or dinner rolls, air-dry the cubes for a few hours before assembling.
  • Egg Mixing Tip: Lightly beat the eggs before adding milk to ensure a smooth custard.
