Quick and Flavorful Crispy Beef with Broccoli

Crispy Beef and Broccoli is a flavorful, easy-to-make dish that’s perfect for a weeknight meal. It takes under 20 minutes to prepare, keeping your kitchen clean with minimal clean-up. This recipe is designed for the Air-Fryer, but stove-top instructions are also provided for convenience.

This dish features thinly shaved rib-eye steak coated in a sweet-heat sauce, topped with sesame seeds, and served with tender broccoli over rice.

How to Make it Crispy

Shaved steak, found in the beef section of most grocery stores, is thinly sliced rib-eye steak. To achieve the crispy texture, toss the shaved beef slices in flour to coat them, then spray with avocado oil to help them crisp up in the air fryer.

For stove-top cooking, heat about 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a pan until it shimmers, then add the flour-coated shaved beef. Toss it regularly to ensure the pieces don’t stick together as they cook.

How to Make Rice

You can pair this dish with any rice variety you prefer.

  • Long Grain White Rice/Jasmine Rice: Light, fluffy, and soft, this is the classic choice for white rice or rice pilaf.
  • Short Grain Rice: Also known as sticky rice, this variety is another family favorite and works great in the microwave.
  • Brown Rice: Brown rice retains its natural nutrients and fiber, providing a firmer texture and more bite compared to white rice.
  • Quinoa: While not a rice, quinoa is a grain that makes a healthy alternative to rice. It’s perfect for a more Asian-inspired bowl.
  • Instant Pot Rice: This is our go-to method. Combine 1 cup of rice, 1 cup of water, 1 tablespoon of butter, and a pinch of salt. Close the lid and set the vent to sealing. Pressure cook for 5 minutes, then let the pressure naturally release. Fluff with a fork.

To cook rice on the stove: For 1 cup of long-grain white rice, use 1 1/2 cups of water. Rinse the rice under cold water until it runs clear. Add the rice and water to a pot with a tight-fitting lid. Bring to a boil, cover with the lid, and reduce the heat to a low simmer for 15-17 minutes, or until the water is absorbed and the rice is cooked. Avoid lifting the lid during cooking. Fluff with a fork when done.

Stove-Top Instructions

Toss the shaved beef with flour until well-coated. Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a pan over medium heat until it starts to shimmer. Add the flour-coated beef and continue tossing to prevent sticking.

Once the beef starts to brown, add the broccoli florets and cook for about 5 minutes. While the beef and broccoli cook, prepare the sauce.

When the beef is crispy and the broccoli is tender to your liking, reduce the heat to low and toss everything together with the sauce. At this point, the dish is ready. Serve it with your preferred rice.

Enjoy your Crispy Beef and Broccoli, a quick and satisfying meal for busy nights!
