How to Make Air Fryer Pita Pizza
1. Pepperoni and Cheese Pizza
Start by spreading a spoonful of pizza sauce onto the pita bread. Add a layer of mozzarella cheese and top with pepperoni. For an extra flavor boost, drizzle a bit of Extra Virgin Olive Oil over the cheese, just like I do with my Classic Margherita Pizza. I prefer sliced mozzarella cheese, but feel free to use whatever cheese you like. If you prefer, you can skip the olive oil, but it does add a wonderful flavor to the pizza.
2. Onion and Fresh Garlic Pizza
Onions and fresh garlic are two of my favorite pizza toppings. When I make my Classic Margherita Pizza, I make sure not to get onions on my husband’s side of the pizza—somehow, they always find their way over! Slice the onions thinly so they cook properly and don’t remain crunchy. Place the onions and minced garlic underneath the cheese to prevent the garlic from burning. Again, drizzle a little Extra Virgin Olive Oil over the cheese for extra flavor.
Cooking in the Air Fryer
To cook the pizza in the air fryer, you need to adjust the temperature and time to ensure the pita bread heats up properly without burning, as it’s already pre-cooked. The toppings will cook through, and the cheese will melt and become bubbly. In just 6 minutes, your Air Fryer Pita Bread Cheese Pizza will be ready.
Keep in mind that air fryers tend to cook faster than traditional ovens, and the cooking times may vary depending on the brand. I’ve noticed that the Phillips Air Fryer and the Ultrean 8.5 Quart Air Fryer cook a bit quicker than others, so check your pizza at around 5 minutes, but it might take up to 7 minutes depending on your air fryer model.
To keep the cheese and toppings from flying all over the place, use a short-legged trivet to keep everything in place while it cooks.
This quick and easy Air Fryer Pita Pizza is perfect for when you need a delicious pizza in no time at all!
