A Fun Twist on the Classic Cheeseburger Wrap

Posted by

Not long ago, I posted this Cheeseburger Crunch Wrap on my Instagram and Pinterest, and it quickly became a hit! So many of you asked for the recipe, and I’m excited to share it with you. Inspired by Taco Bell’s beloved Crunch Wrap Supreme, this version features classic cheeseburger ingredients wrapped in a low-carb tortilla for a fun, flavorful twist. If you’re a fan of cheeseburgers, be sure to check out my other unique recipes like Inside Out Turkey Cheeseburgers, Cheeseburger Soup, and Cheeseburger Salad. You can easily prepare this recipe on a skillet or in the air fryer.

The first time I made this crunch wrap for Instagram, I used lean beef for the patty, but I found it a bit dry. This time, I opted for 93% ground turkey, which resulted in a juicier, more flavorful wrap. Of course, you can use any ground meat you prefer, including meatless burger patties if you prefer a vegetarian option. Just make sure to use a tortilla that’s at least 10 inches in diameter for the perfect wrap.

Cheeseburger Crunch Wrap Customization Ideas

For my version of the Cheeseburger Crunch Wrap, I filled it with all the classic burger ingredients: cheddar cheese, ketchup, mustard, dill pickles, red onions, and shredded lettuce. However, there are so many other tasty ingredients you can use to create your own unique version. Here are some additional ideas to inspire you:

  • Sauces: BBQ sauce, Dijon mustard, mayo, salsa
  • Veggies: Caramelized onions, sautéed mushrooms, avocado, pickled onions
  • Cheese: Blue cheese, gouda, brie, white cheddar
  • Spice: Jalapeños, green chilies
  • Meat: Add crispy bacon for extra flavor
  • Crunch: If you want that signature Taco Bell crunch, add a tostada, potato chips, or even air fryer fries inside the wrap.

Taco Bell traditionally includes a tostada in the middle of their Crunch Wrap Supreme to add crunch, but I decided to leave it out to save on calories. If you want that satisfying crunch, feel free to add one in!

How to Fold a Crunch Wrap

  1. Prepare the tortilla: Start by laying a 10-inch tortilla flat on a clean surface. Place the cooked burger patty in the center of the tortilla.
  2. Add the ingredients: Layer your favorite toppings over the patty—cheese, ketchup, mustard, pickles, onions, lettuce, and any additional ingredients you’d like.
  3. Fold the tortilla: Begin by folding one side of the tortilla over the ingredients. Then, continue folding the other sides over each other to form a sealed wrap.
  4. Cook the wrap: Heat a skillet or air fryer and place the wrap, folded side down, in the pan. Cook for a couple of minutes to seal the tortilla and brown one side. Flip the wrap and cook for another couple of minutes until both sides are golden and crispy.
  5. Serve: Once cooked, slice the wrap in half and serve immediately for a warm, delicious meal.

This Cheeseburger Crunch Wrap is a fun, customizable meal that’s perfect for lunch, dinner, or even a snack. Whether you prefer a classic cheeseburger or like to get creative with toppings, this recipe has something for everyone. Yield: 2 servings (1 wrap per serving)
Prep Time: 5 minutes
Cook Time: 15 minutes
Total Time: 20 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 8 ounces 93% ground turkey
  • 3/4 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 2 large, 10-inch low-carb tortillas (Tumaros)
  • 2 slices American or cheddar cheese (0.7 ounces each)
  • 2 tablespoons ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon golden mustard
  • Dill pickle slices
  • Red onion slices
  • Shredded lettuce
  • Olive oil spray

Optional for crunch:

  • Air fryer French fries or chips (extra)

Instructions:

For Skillet:

  1. Form the ground turkey into two flat patties, about 1/3 inch thick. Season with kosher salt.
  2. Spray a skillet with olive oil and heat over medium heat. Add the patties and cook for 5 minutes on each side, until fully cooked through.
  3. Wipe the skillet clean, then spray with more olive oil and keep it heated over medium-low heat.
  4. Place the cooked burger patty in the center of one tortilla. Add a slice of cheese, followed by pickles, onions, ketchup, mustard, and shredded lettuce.
  5. Fold the sides of the tortilla over the filling to create a wrapped shape.
  6. Place the folded wrap, seam side down, in the skillet. Cook for 1 to 2 minutes, until the bottom is browned. Flip the wrap and cook for another 1 to 2 minutes until both sides are crispy and golden brown.

For Air Fryer:

  1. Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for 5 minutes.
  2. Air fry the turkey patties at 400°F for 10 to 14 minutes, flipping halfway through, until fully cooked.
  3. Wipe the air fryer basket clean and spray with olive oil.
  4. Place the cooked burger patty in the center of a tortilla. Add cheese, pickles, onions, ketchup, mustard, and lettuce.
  5. Fold the tortilla sides over the ingredients to form a wrap.
  6. Place the folded wrap, seam side down, into the preheated air fryer basket. Spray the top with olive oil and air fry for 4 to 5 minutes. Flip carefully halfway through the cooking time.

Notes:

  • The recipe works better in a skillet for achieving a crispier texture, but the air fryer is also a great option if you prefer less oil.
