Air Fryer Puff Pastry A Quick and Delicious Dessert

Posted by

Air fryer puff pastry is the perfect way to make a delicious dessert with minimal effort. Cooking puff pastry in the air fryer creates a crispy, flaky treat that can be topped with a variety of toppings for a simple yet satisfying dessert experience.

If you’ve been following along, you know I’m all about easy, delicious recipes, and air fryer puff pastry definitely fits that description. I was curious about how puff pastry would turn out in the air fryer, and the result? Absolutely amazing! The process is quick, and the flavor is out of this world.

To enhance the flavor, I decided to go for beignet vibes by dusting the pastry with powdered sugar, then added a drizzle of honey for that sopapilla twist. Trust me, I’m so glad I did. This combination is perfect and I’ll definitely be making this dessert again. In fact, I’m already brainstorming a hundred other ways to top it (though the honey and powdered sugar duo is a 10/10).

Ingredients:

  • Puff pastry
  • Milk or egg wash
  • Powdered sugar
  • Honey (optional)

What to Serve with Air Fried Puff Pastry:

While powdered sugar and honey are a fantastic topping combo, there are endless possibilities to make this treat even more indulgent. Consider pairing the air fried puff pastry with:

  • Berry compote
  • Whipped strawberry butter or brown sugar butter
  • Cinnamon whipped cream
  • Air fried apples

The options are endless! You can even top the puff pastry squares with fresh fruit or a fruit compote for an extra layer of flavor.

Can You Make Desserts with Puff Pastry?

Absolutely! Puff pastry is incredibly versatile, and you can create all kinds of sweet treats with it in the air fryer. Some of my favorite recipes include:

  • Air fryer puff pastry tarts
  • Air fryer pumpkin pinwheels
  • Apple turnovers
  • Air fried jam turnovers

The possibilities are truly endless when it comes to air fryer desserts!

Recipe Notes:

  • If you have leftover puff pastry, you can still make a delicious treat with just a few pieces. Simply cut the leftover puff pastry into smaller squares or rectangles and proceed with the recipe.
  • Keep in mind that air fryers can vary in cooking times, so be sure to monitor the puff pastry closely to avoid burning. You want it golden and crispy, not burnt.

How to Make Air Fryer Puff Pastry:

  1. Thaw the Puff Pastry: Follow the package instructions to thaw the puff pastry. Once thawed, cut the pastry into 6 rectangles.
  2. Brush with Milk or Egg Wash: Brush one side of the puff pastry rectangles with milk or an egg wash for a golden finish.
  3. Air Fry: Place the puff pastry in the air fryer basket in a single layer, with the milk/egg side down. Brush the other side with milk or egg. Air fry at 350°F for 6-7 minutes, flip the pastries, and cook for an additional 3 minutes until golden and puffed.
  4. Serve and Top: Once the pastries are done, remove them from the air fryer and place them on a plate. Dust with powdered sugar and drizzle with honey or add your favorite toppings.

Air fryer puff pastry is the perfect dessert for any occasion. This quick and easy treat is crispy on the outside and flaky on the inside, topped with your favorite sweet toppings for a delightful finish.

  • Pastry brush

Ingredients:

  • 1 sheet puff pastry
  • 3 tablespoons milk (or 1 egg)
  • Powdered sugar (for dusting)
  • Honey (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Thaw the Puff Pastry: Allow the puff pastry sheet to thaw according to the package instructions. Once thawed, cut the pastry into 6 rectangles.
  2. Brush with Milk or Egg: Place the milk in a small bowl (or crack and beat the egg). Brush one side of the puff pastry rectangles with the milk or egg.
  3. Air Fry: Place the puff pastry in the air fryer basket in a single layer, milk/egg side down. If necessary, cook in batches. Brush the top of the pastry with more milk or egg.
Air fry at 350°F for 6-7 minutes, then flip the pastries and cook for an additional 3 minutes.
  4. Serve: Once cooked, remove the pastries from the air fryer and plate them. Dust with powdered sugar and drizzle with honey (optional).

Notes:

  • You can make this recipe with an entire sheet of puff pastry, or use leftover puff pastry. Sometimes, I just make this with 2 or 3 rectangles.
  • Keep in mind that all air fryers cook differently, so monitor the puff pastry to ensure it turns golden and brown but doesn’t burn.
