Air Fryer Ham and Cheese Pinwheels
These irresistible air fryer ham and cheese pinwheels come together in just about 20 minutes. They’re perfect for serving as a quick snack, an easy lunch, or a delightful party appetizer.

Ingredients

  • 13 ounces fresh pizza dough or 1 can (13 ounces) of refrigerated pizza dough
  • 15 thin slices deli ham
  • 10 slices cheese (Havarti, Swiss, provolone, pepper jack, or Monterey Jack)
  • 8 tablespoons salted butter
  • 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the dough: Roll out the pizza dough on a lightly floured surface, shaping it into a 13 x 9-inch rectangle.
  2. Layer the fillings: Lay the ham slices evenly over the dough, ensuring full coverage. Then, place the cheese slices on top of the ham, trimming the edges as needed to fit the dough.
  3. Roll and seal: Starting from the longer side, tightly roll the dough to enclose the ham and cheese. Keep rolling to form a log, ensuring the fillings stay intact. Pinch the ends of the dough to seal them securely.
  4. Slice the pinwheels: Using a sharp knife, cut the roll into 8 equal pieces. For smaller pinwheels, you can cut it into 10 or even 12 slices.
  5. Prepare the pan: Lightly grease a 9-inch pie pan and arrange the pinwheels in the pan, leaving a little space between them. Set aside.
  6. Make the butter mixture: In a microwave-safe measuring cup or small bowl, combine the butter, garlic powder, and Italian seasoning. Microwave the mixture for 20–30 seconds, just until melted. Be careful not to overheat the butter to avoid separation. Stir well to blend the seasonings evenly.
  7. Brush and cook: Use a pastry brush to generously coat the tops of the pinwheels with the seasoned butter. Place the pan into the air fryer basket. Cook at 350°F for 10 minutes, or until the dough is fully cooked and the tops are golden brown.
  8. Cool and serve: Remove the pinwheels from the air fryer and allow them to cool slightly. Garnish with chopped parsley if desired before serving.

Notes

  • Pan size: Ensure the pan you use fits inside your air fryer basket. If needed, opt for a smaller pan.
  • Dough substitutions: You can swap out the pizza dough for crescent roll dough, puff pastry, or crescent sheet dough for a different texture and flavor.
  • Storage tips: While these pinwheels are best enjoyed fresh, you can store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 2–3 days. Reheat them in the air fryer at 350°F for 2–3 minutes until warmed through.
