Golden and Delicious Air Fryer Dumplings

Posted by

Potstickers (also known as dumplings) are a fantastic appetizer or side dish to complement your meals. Our newest favorite way to prepare these treats is by using an air fryer. The result? Perfectly hot and crispy potstickers every time. They’re nearly impossible to mess up, but I’ll still share some tips and tricks to ensure you make frozen potstickers in the air fryer flawlessly. If you’re a fan of air fryer recipes, don’t miss trying sweet potatoes in the air fryer too!

Why Make Potstickers in the Air Fryer?

  • They turn out perfect every time! When steaming or pan-frying potstickers, it’s all too easy to burn or ruin a few—or sometimes all—of them. In the air fryer, they’re far less finicky.
  • You can cook more at once! A pan can only hold a few potstickers at a time, which is fine for one or two servings. But when cooking for a family, the air fryer is a game-changer.

What Brand of Potstickers or Dumplings Is Best?

I’ve tried both Tai Pei and Ling Ling potstickers in the air fryer, and both work beautifully. Personally, I found that Tai Pei delivers slightly better results. However, if you prefer Ling Ling or an organic option, feel free to use your favorite brand.

Do I Need to Thaw Potstickers First?

No. Keep the potstickers frozen. If they’ve thawed, you can still cook them using the same method—just reduce the cooking time slightly.

What Kind of Air Fryer Do I Need?

Any air fryer will work for making potstickers. Keep in mind that different air fryer models cook at varying speeds. Some operate hot and fast, while others are slower. Once you’re familiar with your air fryer, you’ll learn how to adjust cooking times for various foods. My suggested times are a great starting point.

What You’ll Need to Make Air Fryer Dumplings:

  • Frozen Potstickers
  • Spray Oil
  • Air Fryer

What Kind of Spray Oil Should I Use?

You can use anything from PAM to avocado oil or coconut oil. I’ve tried all three, and they all work wonderfully. If you don’t have spray oil, you can brush the potstickers lightly with oil instead.

How to Make Frozen Potstickers in the Air Fryer

  1. Spray both sides of the potstickers with oil.
  2. Arrange them evenly in the air fryer basket.
  3. Halfway through cooking, flip or shake them to ensure even cooking.

Air Frying Potstickers

Place your potstickers in the air fryer basket and set the temperature to 400°F. Let them cook for about 5 minutes, then check on them. If the tops are browning faster than the bottoms, flip them halfway through. Typically, they take 10-15 minutes to become golden and crispy.

Recommended Dipping Sauces for Potstickers

Pair your air fryer potstickers with these flavorful dipping sauces:

  • Sweet Chili Sauce
  • Soy Sauce
  • Teriyaki Sauce
  • Hoisin Sauce
  • Peanut Sauce

For a complete spread, serve with rice paper rolls.
