Air Fryer Ham and Cheese Pockets
If you’re familiar with my blog, you know I love to keep recipes as simple as possible. These ham and cheese pockets are my take on homemade Hot Pockets. I always have tortillas in my pantry, so they were my go-to for this recipe. I enjoy creating dishes using ingredients I already have, which is how I earned the nickname “Munchy Goddess.”

Equipment Needed:
- Air Fryer
Ingredients:
- Flour Tortillas – I used 8-inch flour tortillas.
- Ham – I used smoked deli ham slices.
- Shredded Cheddar Jack Cheese
- Softened Butter
Air Fryer Instructions:
- Stack the tortillas on a microwave-safe plate, cover with a damp paper towel, and microwave for 20 seconds.
- Chop the ham into small pieces.
- Place cheese, ham, and additional cheese in the center of a tortilla.
- Fold the edges of the tortilla in, then fold the bottom up, sealing the tortilla. Repeat for the remaining tortillas.
- Preheat your air fryer to 380°F and set the timer for 5 minutes.
- Brush softened butter on top of each tortilla, then sprinkle shredded cheese over it. Press the cheese down to ensure it sticks.
- Place the pockets in the air fryer, seam side down, and cook for 5 minutes, checking halfway through.
- Carefully remove the pockets from the air fryer. Let them cool for a moment, then enjoy!
Oven Instructions:
- Preheat the oven to 400°F.
- Warm the tortillas in the microwave using a tortilla warmer or damp paper towel for 20 seconds.
- Chop the ham into small pieces.
- Place ¼ cup of shredded cheese in the center of a tortilla, followed by ham and more cheese.
- Fold the tortilla edges in and roll it up. Repeat with the remaining tortillas.
- Spread softened butter on top of each wrap, then sprinkle with shredded cheese.
- Place the pockets seam side down on a parchment-lined baking sheet and bake for 12 to 15 minutes, until the cheese is melted.
- Remove from the oven, let them cool, and enjoy for lunch, dinner, or a snack.
Make-Ahead Method:
- Prepare the ham and cheese pockets as instructed but do not cook them.
- Wrap each pocket individually with parchment paper and place them in a freezer bag.
- Store in the fridge for up to 2 days.
- To cook, remove the parchment paper and cook the pockets seam side down in the air fryer at 380°F for 5-7 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
Freezer Instructions:
- Prepare the pockets as instructed, but don’t cook them.
- Place them in a freezer bag and freeze for up to 3 months.
- To cook from frozen, place the pockets seam side down in the air fryer and cook for 5 to 7 minutes at 380°F.

Oven Method:
- Preheat oven to 400°F (204°C).
- Warm tortillas in the microwave for 20 seconds.
- Chop the ham and layer cheese, ham, and more cheese in the center of each tortilla.
- Fold and roll up the tortillas as instructed above.
- Spread softened butter on top of each wrap and sprinkle with shredded cheese.
- Place on a parchment-lined baking sheet and bake for 12-15 minutes until the cheese melts.
- Let cool before serving.
