Though I’m an adult, pizza rolls have always held a special place in my heart. Instead of relying on the unhealthy frozen varieties, I prefer to make my own air fryer pizza rolls from scratch. That’s right—they cook faster than in the oven, and believe it or not, they’re super easy to make from scratch. My family loves them so much that they request them every week!
Why I Love This Recipe
No frozen pizza rolls required. Unlike the traditional frozen pizza rolls (like Totino’s or Annie’s), my air fryer pizza rolls are made from scratch!
Only 4 ingredients. All you need is homemade pizza dough (just 2 ingredients), pizza sauce, and cheese.
Easily customizable. Just like my air fryer pizza, the base recipe is versatile. You can add your favorite toppings, meats, and veggies to make them your own.
Healthy enough to snack on. The dough is higher in protein and includes added fiber, so you can feel good about snacking on a few between meals.
Perfect texture. The crust comes out chewy and fluffy, while the inside stays perfectly saucy and cheesy.
Key Ingredients
- Pizza dough: You can use either my Greek yogurt dough or a 2-ingredient pizza dough, both made with self-rising flour and Greek yogurt.
- Pizza sauce: I love using homemade marinara sauce (either my pomodoro sauce or sugo), but store-bought versions work just as well.
- Cheese: I use a mix of mozzarella and parmesan cheese. If you can, I recommend shredding the cheese by hand for the best melt.
- Pizza toppings: I usually keep it simple with fresh basil, but feel free to add any toppings you like, such as pepperoni, mushrooms, chicken, or olives.
- Milk or olive oil: Optional, but I like brushing the top of the rolls with either milk or olive oil to achieve a chewy, firm crust.
How to Make Pizza Rolls in the Air Fryer
I’ve included step-by-step photos below to make this recipe easy to follow at home. For the full printable recipe and ingredient quantities, scroll to the recipe card at the bottom of this post.
Step 1: Make the dough. Mix the yogurt and flour together until a smooth dough forms.
Step 2: Knead and sauce. Transfer the dough onto a lightly floured surface. Use a rolling pin to roll the dough into a rectangular shape. Spread the pizza sauce over the dough, leaving about half an inch along the edges.
Step 3: Add toppings and roll. Place your choice of toppings on the dough, then sprinkle with shredded cheese. Roll the dough up tightly and slice into 8-10 pieces.
Step 4: Air fry. Brush the outside of the rolls with milk, place them in the air fryer basket, and air fry for 8 minutes.
Recipe Tips
- If your dough feels too thin or wet, add more flour to help it come together. This can happen depending on the type of yogurt used.
- Air fry in batches. Always place the pizza rolls in a single layer in the air fryer basket. If necessary, air fry in smaller batches.
- Don’t overload with toppings—too much can cause them to spill out during cooking, resulting in an undercooked base.
- Use parchment paper to line the air fryer basket for easy cleanup and to prevent the dough from sticking.
