Ingredients:
- 10 pieces mozzarella string cheese (I used Weight Watchers Smoked Flavor)
- 1 cup Italian breadcrumbs
- 1 egg
- 1/2 cup flour
- 1 cup marinara sauce
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions:
- Season the breadcrumbs with salt and pepper.
- Set up your workstation by placing the flour, breadcrumbs, and eggs in separate bowls.
- Dip each mozzarella stick into the flour, then the egg, and finally coat it with breadcrumbs.
- Freeze the sticks for 1 hour to help them firm up and maintain their shape during frying.
- Preheat your Air Fryer to 400°F (200°C). Lightly coat the Air Fryer basket with coconut oil using a cooking brush to prevent sticking.
- Place the mozzarella sticks in the Air Fryer basket.
- Cook for 8 minutes, then carefully flip each stick using tongs or your hands (they should not be too hot). Cook for another 8 minutes.
- Allow the sticks to cool for 5 minutes before removing them from the Air Fryer. Some cheese may leak out during cooking; once they cool, use your hands to reshape them if needed.
Notes:
- Cooking times may vary depending on the brand of Air Fryer you use. Check the mozzarella sticks at the 4-minute mark and adjust the remaining cooking time accordingly.
